Why Florida Southern?

Florida Southern was the furthest school from my mind when I began my college search during my sophomore year of high school. I was fascinated by Big 10, well known, enormous institutions. However, with each one that I toured, I could not help but feel like I just did not belong. So, I searched the United States from coast to coast for the place I could call my home. Yet, it was not until senior year, one week before deposits were due, that I toured FSC. For the first time in my two years of college tours, I finally felt the unquestionable knowing that I had found my home. Florida Southern makes the 900 miles that separate me from my home in Delaware seem to diminish with the welcoming, encouraging, and optimistic presence of the student body and faculty. Leadership opportunities, explorations into clubs and other organizations, and the desire to expand education beyond the means of a textbook or PowerPoint are not only accessible but, encouraged at Florida Southern College. Being a Moc has matured, humbled, strengthened, and grown me more as an individual than any other experience I have had thus far. Florida Southern is my home.

What is your favorite FSC memory?

So far I would have to say my favorite FSC memory was from Fall semester when my friends and I were studying in the library on Friday afternoon and did not hear the announcement that the library would be closing soon. Therefore, on a Friday night during my first semester at college, I got locked in the library and my friends and I had to call safety to come to our rescue. That is something I will never forget and it was the perfect way to learn how to use FSC resources and the Roux’s hours!

Binge watch Netflix, read "Love Does" in the rose garden behind Joseph-Reynolds Hall, ride my bike, and spend time with my friends!
