Tour Guide at Florida Southern College
Class of 2019
Hometown: williamstown, NJ
When I began applying for colleges during my senior year of high school, I originally had no intention of wanting to attend s school out of state. However, when I found Florida Southern online, it seemed to have everything I was looking for in a school — a direct-entry nursing program, a dance program, and a smaller academic environment. When I visited FSC during Scholars Weekend, I knew I had found my home away from home! My professors at Florida Southern have truly gone above and beyond to make sure I am successful, not only in their classes, but also for life after graduation.
My favorite spot in Lakeland is located on 801 E Main Street, also known as the Poor Porker! The Poor Porker serves beignets, coffee, and often has live music on the weekends. The atmosphere there is truly unique, and I love going there on a weekend afternoon to catch up on homework and studying!
Since it’s too hard for me to pick just one, so I'll name a few! The Discover Florida trips through FSC have led to some of my favorite college memories. On one trip, I had the opportunity to go snorkeling and see dolphins, and another trip was to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights! I had a lot of fun on both of these trips with some of my best friends!
One of my favorite classes at Florida Southern was “What Is Religion”. I enjoyed this class so much because it was primarily discussion-based; I loved being able to have thoughtful discussions with my peers and the professor! This class really challenged me to think outside of the box, and it gave me a whole new way of viewing religion.
