In my spare time I like to...

Some of my favorite things are beaches and baseball, and luckily they are both abundant in the central Florida area. From either going to one of the beautiful beaches along the Gulf Coast or attending spring training for my favorite baseball team, there is always a way to unwind and enjoy either pastime. I also love Walt Disney World, so I try to go to their theme parks as much as I can to escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life for a little while.

What has been your favorite class?

My favorite class thus far has been my Principles of Advertising and Public Relations class, because it contributed to my desire to pursue a career in Public Relations. Not only was Dr. Ortiz incredibly knowledgeable on the subject, but he also gave us the opportunity to go into the community and create a marketing plan for a local business. I’m not a morning person, but I didn’t mind getting up to go to this class at 8 a.m.

Why Florida Southern?

Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to go to college in Florida; it's something I've documented as early as fifth grade. Upon my first visit to campus during my junior year of high school, I absolutely fell in love with the Florida Southern atmosphere. The campus is truly a small community in itself, with the students, faculty, and staff all interacting harmoniously. Not only do the students all know one another, but it was also apparent that the professors are very invested in seeing each student succeed in their specific goals and aspirations, which is something so unique to this campus and a definite advantage of attending a small school.

What is your favorite spot/thing to do in Lakeland?

My favorite thing to do in Lakeland is to go to the Farmer’s Market downtown on Saturday mornings! I love getting to experience the “small town” vibe that is present, seeing all the local vendors, petting dogs, then afterwards heading to Black and Brew to enjoy a cup of coffee!
