Alumnus at Florida Southern College
Class of 2020
Current: Plant City, FL
Major: Political Science
My favorite activity in Lakeland is biking around Lake Hollingsworth. The views are pretty and if you’re lucky you might even catch a glimpse of an alligator or even an otter! Sometimes I head out before the sun comes up and watch the sunrise with my friends. Super beautiful and I would recommend that experience to anyone!
My favorite memory was my first ever Winter Wonderland! It is my favorite traditional event on campus where real snow is brought to campus. As a Floridian who has never seen snow, it's pretty exciting. I went sledding and made my own hot chocolate. It was a great time to hang out with friends and relieve the stress from finals before heading home for winter break!
My favorite class so far has been my "Law and the Courts" class. In this class, we hear legal professionals come and speak. My favorite was hearing about what it’s like to be a public defender. We also had mock trials and debates. The class was really hands on and didn't only focus on just lectures from the professor. It definitely inspired me to have a future in law.
When I first toured Florida Southern, I fell in love. I loved the small community feel of the campus and the hands-on aspect that the classes had. Having small classes and being able to work one on one with my professors was something I was looking for during my college search. My advisors had reached out to me the minute I had been enrolled as a Political Science student and were very helpful from my first year here and they still are now as a junior!
