Tour Guide at Florida Southern College
Class of 2024
Hometown: Lakeland, FL
Major: Psychology
My favorite FSC memory so far has been recruitment for rush week and joining a sorority on campus! It was so fun meeting all of the different organizations and learning how they connect with campus and a certain philanthropy. Once I found the one that really made me feel welcomed and at home, I have loved getting to know everyone in my sorority and having the opportunity to create special bonds with girls at Florida Southern who share similar ideals and goals.
I love going to the Farmer's Market on Saturday's in downtown Lakeland. There are always super cool and unique vendors and other small local businesses you get to meet and support. I love the atmosphere of the farmer's market and makes me feel more connected to Lakeland. There's also a lot of delicious food and coffee to enjoy from local restaurants and shops too!
I grew up in Lakeland, so I was always exposed and around Florida Southern. I love the city of Lakeland and knew that Florida Southern would be a good fit because of my love for the town and how I felt at home wherever I was on campus. I also wanted to play volleyball in college and was offered a spot on the FSC's women's indoor team which sealed the deal for my decision of choosing Florida Southern. I love the smaller class sizes, as it has helped me connect with all of my professors one on one and build a stronger relationship with them and my classmates.
My favorite class so far has been Psychology in the Natural World from my first semester. Professor Smith was my instructor for that class as well as my advisor, so it was really good to have him as my advisor and also have the ability to see him face to face in class. This class was also a part of the Learning Community, meaning all of the students in the class were first year psychology majors and were in another Psychology class right after that with the same group of people. It allowed me to connect with other people in my major and build those important relationships moving forward academically.
