Tour Guide at Florida Southern College

Class of 2021

Hometown: Granville, OH

Major: Biology

Minor: Chemistry and Mathematics

What has been your favorite class?

My favorite class has been Biostatistics. I have always been drawn toward algebra and calculus. Throughout the course Dr. Serrano was extremely helpful and always willing to lend the extra hand to make sure I understood the material well. Though I was originally planning to have a minor in Mathematics, after this course and through discussions with Dr. Serrano, I decided to add on the major of Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Involvement (clubs/organizations):

I am a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) the Pre-Health Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma the Academic Honor Society. I am also the Vice President of Rotaract, a service organization sponsored by Rotary International. Aside from working with Southern Ambassadors, I work for the Biology department as a Lab Teaching Assistant.

In my spare time I like to...

Simply hang out with friends! After a long week of classes, I always find it nice to relax and enjoy the fun stuff to do around campus or in Lakeland.

Why Florida Southern?

I always knew that I needed a small school, with a tight-knit community. After learning about the robust biology department here, I knew that FSC was the perfect fit for me. After attending Scholars Weekend, I was convinced that this is where I needed to be. Everyone I met during the weekend was extremely helpful and informative, plus, the atmosphere was exactly what I was looking for. Furthermore, during Scholars Weekend, I met staff members who just showed how much they cared about the students, and how much they want us all to succeed.
