My favourite thing to do in Lakeland is definitely after lifting weights, my friends and I rent bikes for free at the Wellness Centre and make some laps around Lake Hollingsworth. It is really a great way to release some tension with the scenic view, as well as burn a couple extra calories.
The classrooms are not your typical university lecture halls, but rather small classrooms which can easily engage the students to the presented lecture. This, along with the fantastic professors really solidified my choice to go FSC.
On campus, I'm involved with the Black Student Union (BSU), International Student Association (ISA), Computer Science Club (CSC), and a part of Greek Life in the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity (PKP). I'm also a Southern Ambassador, as well as a ZeeMee influencer for Florida Southern; helping prospective students learn about their potential college choice.
My favourite class has to be Object-Oriented Programming with Dr. Matthew Eicholtz. Although computer science sounds tough (and it can be), Dr. Eicholtz makes the workload very easy and manageable, as well as keeps the energy in the class lighthearted with countless jokes. So, although the majority of the time we are joking around, we are still getting a lot of work done which results in an effortless A.
